Q. Do you need a fishing permit at Twin Lakes? 

A: No you do not need a permit to fish on our lakes.

Q. Which specimens will I expect to catch at Twin Lakes?

A: Our lakes are mainly stocked with a range of carp species, including mirror, grass, common and koi. The size of the carp vary up to 35lb. You may also catch some silver fish (roach and perch).

Q. What is the difference between Top Lake and Bottom Lake?

A: Top Lake The Top Lake is a fantastic choice for fishing enthusiasts of all skill levels, especially beginners. This lake is teeming with fish, offering a plentiful assortment of catches. With fish typically ranging between 5 to 10 pounds, beginners will find it almost guaranteed to catch something, providing an exciting and rewarding experience.

Bottom Lake In contrast, the Bottom Lake is a haven for those seeking a more challenging and rewarding fishing experience. Known for its difficulty, this lake is home to a selection of specimen carp that attract experienced anglers. The fish in the Bottom Lake are notably larger, with some carp weighing up to an impressive 35 pounds. This lake demands skill and patience, making it perfect for those who relish the thrill of pursuing larger catches and the satisfaction of mastering a more complex environment.

Q. How much do the fish weigh? 

A: Up to 35lb. 

Q. How much ground bait can I use?

A: We do not have a limit on the amount of ground bait you use - however we ask that you are sensible with your distribution and conscious of the other people who may be fishing around you.  

Q. Is fly fishing allowed?

A: YES! and we encourage it! It is a great experience to catch a carp on a fly

Q. What is the maximun number of rods per person? 

A: The maximum number of rods is 2 per person. 

Q. Can I come night fishing? 

A: No, we do not allow night fishing. 

Q. What bait can I use?

A: You will find that both of the lakes have different bait requirements. For bottom lake we recommend you use carp baits, boiles and pellet top. For top lake you can keep it more simple and use sweetcorn, chopped, meat, ground bait and bread punch. From experience we have found that boiles don't tend to work on top lake. 

You are also able to catch on both lakes with floating bait.

Q. What type of hooks can I use?

A: Barbless hooks only, people found using barbed hooks will be asked to leave Twin Lakes. 

Q. Are keep nets allowed? 

A: No, we do not allow keep nets.

Q. Are landing nets and unhooking mats required?

A: Yes - you must use landing nets and unhooking mats. Anyone found to not have the correct equipment while fishing at Twin Lakes France will be asked to leave. 

Q. Do you have dipping nets? 

A: No we do not have dipping nets.  

Q. Can I take photos of the fish I have caught? 

A: Yes of course! However, you must be very careful when handling the fish. You should not stand up with the fish. Photos should be taken over the unhooking mat. Children should be supported by an adult. 

Q. Can I use a bait boat? 

A: Yes - but please be sensible and only place your bait within your swim.   

Q. Can children come fishing? 

A: Yes! We love seeing children learning to fish. They must be supervised around the lakes by an adult at all times. Children should be supported by an adult once they have caught a fish. 

Q. Can I buy bait in the on-site shop?

A: Yes. While stocks last. 

Q. What do I do if I see someone not following the rules?

A: Please alert a member of staff as soon as you observe the behaviour either through our doorbell at the bar or by ringing the Twin Lakes phone number. 

Q. Can I reserve a fishing peg?

A: At Twin Lakes France, we do not permit the reservation of fishing pegs. Please note that if you decide to leave your fishing equipment by a chosen peg and it is moved or tampered with by others, we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage. 

Q. Can I use a BBQ around the lake?

A: No, you cannot bring a BBQ due to the fire risk in imposes. However, you can bring a picnic. 

Q. Can I bring my dog to the lake?

A: Yes. Dogs are allowed at Twin Lakes France, however they must be kept on a lead at all times and they are not allowed to swim in the lakes. 

Q. Where do I put my rubbish? 

A: Please put all rubbish in the bins on our camping field on departure. Glass must be taken to the glass bin at the top of the road.
